rtfdtohtml -- convert RTF and RTFD files to HTML

Rtfdtohtml is a command line tool for converting existing documents from the Rich Text Format to HTML. It supports both RTF and RTFD files created on NeXTSTEP or OPENSTEP systems. The current version is 1.4. The quality of the generated output has been significantly improved since version 1.3.

It is based on (and requires to run) the rtftohtml-filter by Chris Hector. It also requires perl version 4 or 5.

Rtfdtohtml adds the following features to rtftohtml:

· support for the complete NeXT-European character set
· different font sizes and colors
· conversion of inline images to GIF, JPEG or PNG format
· links and markers
· HTML-3.2 tables
· optional navigation panels
· automatic index generation
· hypertext links in TextEdit

Online documentation:

· README file
· copying conditions
· installation instructions
· user's guide
· manual pages in HTML format

The follwing software is available here:

· rtfdtohtml version 1.4
· rtftohtml-2.7.5.patch (patch file, see the INSTALL file)
· rtftohtml version 2.7.5pl1 (source code, includes patch)
· ImageMagick, tiffutils (binary for OPENSTEP/Mach) (i386 or m68k) (README)
· tiff2png (binary for OPENSTEP/Mach) (i386 or m68k)

Some sample documents:

· Example.rtfd
· this page...  (apart from the sitemap on the left)
· huge amounts of (somewhat old) lecture notes (in German) on:
OPENSTEP, Distributed Systems, Internet Services, etc.
